About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Mechanical Engineer to join our team in Burlington, Canada. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for delivering mechanical engineering design projects according to required timeframes and standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise the performance of mechanical engineers and review deliverables to ensure high-quality results.
  • Facilitate the purchase of equipment by specifying requirements and assisting procurement with the purchase of equipment.
  • Contribute to the cost-efficient delivery of mechanical engineering projects by managing the man hour budget and reviewing and approving mechanical capital cost estimates.
  • Take on a mechanical lead role on major projects, including managing engineers and designers, organizing mechanical work on the project, managing project budget and schedule, and reporting mechanical activities internally and to the client.
  • Assist the development and review of relevant mechanical contracts by providing advice and input as required.
About You

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • An undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Ontario.
  • Previous experience in Minerals & Metals is a must. Oil & Gas would be an asset.
  • 10 - 12 years mechanical design engineering experience in a relevant industry, e.g. mining, mineral processing, materials handling, preferable with gold and copper.
  • Ability to resolve most technical issues in an efficient manner utilizing personal knowledge, external consultants, and in-house experience.
  • Good knowledge of AutoCAD, 3D software, and MS Office.
  • Knowledge of multi-discipline engineering.
  • Commitment to mentoring and coaching of personnel.
  • Proven ability to manage, motivate, and influence employees at all levels.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Well-developed written and oral skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks for the design team and manage time effectively.
