Family Support Specialist

Job Summary
Child & Family Resources is seeking a qualified Family Support Specialist to provide home-based prevention services to families in need. This role is responsible for supporting the parent-child relationship, attachment, and family enhancement through child development education, play, goal setting, assessments, and coordination of services/activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Home Visits: Conduct home visits virtually or in-person to assess family needs and provide case management services when necessary, promoting self-sufficiency.
- Child Development Curriculum: Utilize child development curriculum with each family to promote positive parent-child relationships.
- Play-Based Interventions: Utilize floor time to support play within the parent and child relationship.
- Limit Setting and Boundaries: Utilize appropriate limit setting and boundaries.
- Role Modeling: Act as a positive role model.
- Documentation and Assessments: Maintain necessary assessments and documentation in accordance with agency and funding source requirements.
- Supervision and Collaboration: Participate in weekly supervision with Program Supervisor and coordinate with other community services.
- Training and Conferences: Attend and participate in all scheduled Healthy Families conferences, seminars, in-service training, and parent events.
- Continuous Quality Improvement: Participate in agency Continuous Quality Improvement activities.
Requirements
- Education and Experience: Minimum of High School diploma or equivalent and two years of experience in related field. Associate's or Bachelor's degree in social work or related behavioral health field preferred.
- Interpersonal Skills: Ability to interact effectively with families.
- Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge in family life skills, infant and child development, and cultural differences. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Flexibility and Adaptability: Ability to work effectively on a family support team and flexibility in scheduling.
- Language Proficiency: Bilingual Spanish required.
- Physical and Mental Demands: Must be able to sit for extended periods, stand and walk short distances, and lift up to 40 pounds.
