Medical Office Assistant

Job Summary:
HonorVet Technologies is seeking a highly skilled Medical Office Assistant to join our team. As a Medical Office Assistant, you will provide clinical and administrative support to physicians and surgeons, ensuring the delivery of quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in patient care responsibilities, including performing venipuncture and/or EKGs, checking schedules, and organizing patient flow.
  • Accompany patients to exam/procedure rooms, assist with walking, transferring, and dressing, and collect and process specimens and point-of-care testing.
  • Assist physicians with various procedures, take vital signs, and relay instructions to patients and families.
  • Fulfill clerical responsibilities, including sending and receiving patient medical records, obtaining lab/x-ray reports, and completing forms and requisitions.
  • Enter orders into the electronic medical record (EMR) system or prepare prescription refill requests on behalf of the physician.
  • Inventory, order, or re-stock medical supplies as applicable.
  • Provide set-up of examination rooms and instruments in accordance with proper sterilization techniques.
  • Maintain logging systems for refrigeration of medications, point-of-care testing, and sterilization processes.
  • Check expiration dates on medications and medical supplies and dispose of them appropriately.
  • Comply with established personal protective equipment requirements and maintain a safe, secure, and healthy work environment.

Requirements:
  • 3 years of experience working as a medical assistant.
  • Some relevant medical office/phlebotomy experience is desirable.
  • Certification as a Medical Assistant from an approved school.
  • MS Office Suite - Basic.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with multicult.
