About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Trajectory Optimization Specialist to join our team at Blue Origin. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for optimizing Earth-to-orbit trajectories for our launch vehicle configurations, including modeling kinematic and dynamic characteristics, developing integrated design solutions, and assessing conceptual designs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Optimize Earth-to-orbit trajectories for launch vehicle configurations
  • Model kinematic and dynamic characteristics of spacecraft trajectories
  • Develop integrated design solutions for spacecraft systems
  • Assess conceptual designs for spacecraft systems
  • Support trade studies on system design and architectures
  • Document and maintain analysis inputs, models, and reports
Requirements
  • Minimum of B.S. degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or equivalent technical field
  • 2+ years of experience in trajectory optimization, GNC, mission design, or advanced degree
  • Strong orbital mechanics fundamentals
  • Strong flight mechanics/dynamics fundamentals
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and strengthen our culture of inclusion
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in launch, spacecraft, and reentry systems
  • Experience using trajectory analysis tools such as POST, OTIS, STK Astrogator, or Copernicus
  • Strong technical troubleshooting skills
  • Experience with aerodynamic modeling, stability, or control design
  • Experience using MATLAB/Simulink
  • Experience with flight safety analysis and post-flight data analysis
  • Active TS/SCI clearance
