We are seeking a talented Flight Dynamics Engineer to join our Constellation Execution team in Seattle. This role is ideal for engineers who thrive in a dynamic, results-driven environment. The successful candidate will possess a robust technical skill set, relevant project experience, and a passion for tackling complex challenges to ensure the effective operation of our satellite constellation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with the satellite operations team to facilitate orbit sustainment planning and execution, enhancing existing software tools.
  • Design, develop, and maintain proprietary flight dynamics software.
  • Support collision avoidance strategies, decision-making processes, and maneuver implementations.
  • Analyze data from intricate space and ground systems, applying statistical knowledge, software scripting, modeling, simulation, and advanced mathematics to identify patterns and propose solutions.
  • Work alongside ground systems software developers to automate tasks and introduce new functionalities.
  • Engage with technical teams to resolve critical customer challenges and devise innovative solutions.
  • Provide occasional off-hours support for launch operations and collision avoidance coordination.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, physics, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of astrodynamics, spacecraft navigation, orbit determination, trajectory planning, and collision avoidance.
  • Proficient programming skills in Python with at least 2 years of practical application.
  • Experience with orbit analysis tools such as Orekit, STK, ODTK, GMAT, or FreeFlyer.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects effectively.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Advanced degree in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, physics, or a related discipline.
  • Experience with operational satellites.
  • Familiarity with maneuver planning and collision avoidance execution.
  • Knowledge of satellite ground system architectures and design.
