Key Responsibilities

This role entails serving as the Information System Security Officer (ISSO) for various Department of Defense (DoD) and Intelligence Community (IC) assets. The ISSO will be responsible for ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of multiple classified computing systems. Candidates must possess a solid understanding of information technology and security principles and be adept at navigating a dynamic environment that requires technical expertise, customer service, communication, and organizational skills.

  • Develop and implement the information systems security program for assigned systems in alignment with NISPOM, NIST RMF, and ICD 503 standards.
  • Apply cybersecurity standards, including DISA STIGs and RMF security controls, to classified computing environments.
  • Conduct Continuous Monitoring (ConMon) of security controls, including audit log reviews, security updates, compliance scanning, and vulnerability management.
  • Assist in the preparation and upkeep of security Assessment and Authorization (A&A) documentation, including participation in system categorization.
  • Engage in security incident response as needed, including remediation, detection, investigation, and reporting.
  • Collaborate with other security and information systems stakeholders as required.
  • Review new government requirements and determine appropriate responses.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Cybersecurity, or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • OR substantial technical/compliance experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Security+ or DoD M IAM Level II or higher certification.
  • 5+ years of experience as an ISSO, ISSM, or System Administrator with a focus on NISPOM, NIST RMF, and ICD 503.
  • Experience in managing security policies and account management for information systems.
  • Proficient in conducting security audits with or without specialized SIEM tools (experience with Splunk is highly desirable).
  • Able to work effectively in both team settings and independently, demonstrating strong problem-solving skills, organization, flexibility, and self-motivation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with Splunk, Nessus, and ServiceNow.
