Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Patient Advocate to join our team at Med-Metrix. As a Patient Advocate, you will play a critical role in ensuring that patients receive the medical assistance they need to access quality healthcare.

Key Responsibilities
  • Complete Medical Assistance Applications for patients who may be eligible for benefits under the MA Program or other entitlement programs.
  • Obtain all necessary documents required by the County Assistance Office to determine eligibility.
  • Screen patients for disability and complete the hospital charity care form with patient/family member or guardian.
  • Update computer systems daily and complete Medical Assistance production reports.
  • Secure all releases, waivers, and questionnaires needed for patient applications.
  • Follow up with patients daily while they are in-house and ensure that all necessary verification is faxed within 24-48 hours of completing the MA application.
  • Prepare applications for drop-off at the County Assistance Office and follow up with them until a determination has been made.
  • Assist with the Marketplace where applicable and report Red Flag and non-cooperative patients to management.
  • Use, protect, and disclose patients' protected health information (PHI) in accordance with HIPAA standards.
Requirements
  • Ability to work at various client sites as needed.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; college degree in a healthcare field preferred.
  • 2-3 years of experience in the field of healthcare preferred, with 2-3 years of patient-facing experience.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with patients one-on-one and work independently with a high level of organization.
  • Strong investigatory and researching skills, with the ability to use the internet and learn databases.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills, with the ability to efficiently multitask and meet monthly productivity goals.
  • Bilingual in Spanish (spoken and written skills) a plus.
Working Conditions

The physical demands of this role include moving around the work area, light lifting, and sitting for extended periods. The mental demands include following directions, collaborating with others, and handling stress. The work environment is typically quiet and minimal noise.
