Job Overview

The Copper River Family of Companies is in search of a skilled CNC Router Software Specialist. This role involves managing part files and assemblies from the engineering team, effectively organizing and nesting them onto stock sheet sizes, and generating NC-code for in-house CNC routing operations. The ideal candidate will also oversee quality control to identify and reject non-conforming parts while managing the CNC routing schedule.

The CNC Router Software Specialist will be tasked with scheduling and supervising all CNC router and CNC press brake activities, leading a team of 3-4 operators. This position reports directly to the Pre-Fabrication Supervisor and includes leading weekly scheduling meetings to align workloads and priorities with production timelines across various projects.

This hands-on position demands a high level of expertise in CNC router and CNC press brake operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Receive and process files for cutting and forming in DXF/DWG format or through direct import from SolidWorks assemblies into SigmaNest.
  • Organize parts by thickness using assembly drawings, nest parts according to the program and required quantities, generate NC code for precise cutting of all necessary features, and include metadata for proper kitting of cut parts.
  • Exhibit the ability to safely perform multiple tasks in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, completing assigned work within reasonable timeframes while adhering to established quality control standards.
  • Collaborate closely with the Pre-Fabrication Supervisor to enhance router cutting and press brake workflows, continuously improving procedures for complex and unique designs.
  • Possess a thorough understanding of various tools, equipment, and software that streamline and expedite cutting and forming processes.
  • Document and capture red lines as necessary.
  • Undertake additional tasks as required to support the company's objectives and growth.

Experience Requirements:

The CNC Router Software Specialist typically has 5-8 years of experience with SigmaNest (or similar CAM software) and relevant experience with CNC cutting and/or forming equipment. Proficiency in aluminum CNC router cutting and SolidWorks or other CAD software is highly desirable.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Education/Experience/Knowledge/Skills:
    • High School Diploma (GED) is required.
    • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
    • Ability to pass a background check.
    • Experience in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, including understanding drawing symbols and general notes.
    • Ability to follow both written and verbal instructions, read production travelers, and comply with standard safety and quality control procedures.
    • Experience with CAM software and programming for CNC cutting operations is essential.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel.
    • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Physical Requirements:
    • Capability to lift up to 50 lbs.
    • Ability to stand for extended periods, climb ladders, bend, grasp, sit, pull, push, stoop, and stretch as required.
    • Willingness to work long hours, as needed, to meet deadlines and deliverables.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Education/Experience/Knowledge/Skills:
    • Completion certificate for SigmaNest training course.
    • SolidWorks training certificate.
    • Experience with SolidWorks PDM.
    • AAS degree in a relevant machine tool field.
    • Demonstrated leadership experience managing a team of three or more personnel.

  • Perform other tasks that align with the goals and objectives of the company and department.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.

Compensation: Position pay range is $19—$40 USD.
