Job Title: Social Media Coordinator

George Mason University's Office of University Branding (OUB) is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Social Media Coordinator to join the Mason Social Media team. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating, filming, and producing high-quality video content for the University President's social media channels and supporting the official Mason social media channels.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage the University President's social media accounts and develop content to drive brand awareness and engagement.
  • Create and curate high-quality, engaging content for social media platforms.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure social media content aligns with overall marketing initiatives.
  • Develop and manage a content calendar to ensure consistent and timely posting across platforms.
  • Execute social media management tasks using enterprise tools to streamline processes and improve efficiency.
  • Participate in brainstorming sessions and content ideation.
  • Assist during crisis situations with the social media team as part of OUB's Crisis Communications response plan.
  • Provide coverage for social media when other team members are out.
Requirements:
  • A passion for social media and understanding of platforms and audiences.
  • Proficient with Adobe Creative Suite, Adobe Premier, SEM Rush, Canva, and social media platforms.
  • Digital video and photography skills.
  • Experience creating strong, engaging content.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and professional communication skills.
  • Demonstrated excellence in writing, proofreading, and editing.
  • Strong listening and communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask while preserving attention to detail.
  • Experience managing social channels and digital communities.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in social media, public relations, communications, reporting, or writing.
  • Bachelor's degree in English, marketing, or a similar field.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills to meet deadlines.
  • Video editing and photography experience a plus.
