Consumer Affairs Specialist, Position Overview

The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) is seeking a Consumer Affairs Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our Division of Depositor and Consumer Protection, you will be responsible for directing, participating in, and reviewing complex and sensitive bank complaint investigations related to federal consumer protection laws.
This position is located in the FDIC's Division of Depositor and Consumer Protection and reports to the Senior Manager, Consumer Affairs Branch. You will work closely with Regional and Washington Office staff to provide direction, technical advice, and guidance on complex complaint investigations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Investigate and respond to complex and sensitive consumer complaints and inquiries regarding consumer protection laws and general banking procedures.
- Research issues involving consumer complaints and inquiries with the staff of the Regional and Washington Offices, including the Community Affairs and Compliance and Enforcement sections of DCP, as well as the Legal and Risk Management Supervision Division.
- Develop, coordinate, and participate in consumer education and outreach efforts, such as presentations made for public consumption.
- Coordinate on-site investigations of consumer complaints and inquiries with DCP, and where applicable, DCP Examiners.
Requirements:
- Minimum Background Investigation (MBI) required.
- Completion Of Financial Disclosure May Be Required.
