KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This role encompasses all facets of financial reporting for Georgia State University Auxiliary Athletics, Athletic Association, and Student Activities.

PRIMARY DUTIES INCLUDE:
  • Overseeing financial reporting for Athletics and the Athletic Association, which includes preparing initial budgets based on submissions from Athletics and the Athletic Association, extending budgets, and drafting budget amendments; creating journal entries; generating monthly financial statements; reconciling expenditures between Athletics and the Athletic Association, and managing monthly revenue and expense movements; reviewing student details for Athletic Association housing transactions; formulating closing plan entries; and executing monthly bank account reconciliations; conducting monthly reconciliations of gate receipts; and completing monthly balance sheet account reconciliations along with trial balance assessments to guarantee accurate ledger balances.
  • Managing all aspects of financial reporting for Student Activities, which includes preparing original budgets from submissions by Student Activity Groups, extending budgets, and drafting budget amendments; monitoring expenditures and cash deposits; creating journal entries; generating monthly financial reports and mandatory fee reports; preparing closing plan entries; calculating fund balance reports based on capitalized projects; completing monthly balance sheet account reconciliations and trial balance assessments, and collaborating with State Auditors on inquiries related to Student Activities.
  • Acting as the Agency and Study Abroad Accountant, responsible for the establishment of new Agency Accounts on a daily/weekly basis, generating the monthly Agency and Study Abroad Deficit Report, and collaborating with custodians and program directors regarding any deficit balances, as well as preparing the Schedule 17 for the Annual Financial Reports, closing Agency and Study Abroad Accounts, and working with State Auditors on related issues.
  • Performing additional related duties as assigned.
NOTE: This position requires some evening and weekend hours during specific periods for tasks associated with Fiscal Year-End Close.

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree and three years of relevant experience; or a combination of education and relevant experience. Must be bondable for certain positions.
Preferred Requirements:
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel.
  • Experience with PeopleSoft Financials and Banner.
