Job Summary:

The Hays County Sheriff's Office is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Records Management Specialist to lead our records management team. As a key member of our support staff, you will play a vital role in maintaining the integrity of our official records and files.

About the Role:

We are looking for a professional with a proven track record in records management, customer service, and office administration. You will be responsible for planning, prioritizing, and assigning daily work tasks, as well as maintaining accurate and up-to-date records in various databases, including TCIC/NCIC. Your exceptional knowledge of grammar, punctuation, and spelling will ensure that all correspondence and reports are completed to the highest standard.

You will also be responsible for providing administrative support to agency employees and units, responding to questions and making referrals to other sources of information. Additionally, you will be required to attend training seminars and programs to stay up-to-date with changes in procedures, regulations, and laws related to record-keeping.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan, prioritize, and assign daily work tasks.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in various databases, including TCIC/NCIC.
  • Provide administrative support to agency employees and units.
  • Respond to questions and make referrals to other sources of information.
  • Attend training seminars and programs to stay up-to-date with changes in procedures, regulations, and laws related to record-keeping.

Requirements:

This position requires a High School Diploma or GED, and two to three years of full-time experience in police records, customer service, office management, secretarial, or highly responsible office or clerical work. A Class C TX driver's license is also required. Bilingual skills in Spanish and English are preferred. Notary Public certification may be required. The ability to maintain continuing education requirements for the State of Texas is essential. TCIC/NCIC certification is also required within one year of hire date. Emergency dispatch certification may be required if assigned to TLETS/NLETS access.

Estimated Salary:
$60,000 - $80,000 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications.
