Job Title: Area Manager

Atlas is a leading provider of civil engineering, materials testing, and geotechnical consulting services for environmental, industrial, and infrastructure construction projects. As an Area Manager, you will play a critical role in overseeing and directing all operations, business development, and accounting activities for the region.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee daily activities and solve operational problems as needed.
  • Monitor and improve the quality of departmental activities.
  • Provide oversight to ensure project specifications are met and the work meets the required standards.
  • Mentor and develop staff to assist them in pursuing personal and professional growth.
  • Perform project management duties as needed.
  • Supervise and direct field staff as required to perform work to acceptable quality standards.
  • Assist in the development and training of office personnel.
  • Evaluate protocols and procedures employed by staff to ensure project specifications are met.
  • Assist in matters of office administration and project management, including direct personal involvement in field work, proposals, presentations, and estimating.
  • Ensure that the office under your supervision attains and maintains desired certifications and registrations.
  • Perform field activities as needed to ensure projects are being handled correctly and that quality standards are achieved.
  • Perform administrative departmental functions, including review of employees' timesheets for correctness, punctuality, and to limit non-billable hours.
  • Coordinate the work schedule (both field and laboratory) and monitor the quality of the work produced.
  • Prepare written reports and review staff reports, monitoring turn-around times for projects.
  • Provide peer-review for other professionals of designs, reports, and other documents.
  • Develop and present verbal and written proposals, interact with owners, architects, and/or consulting engineers, and prospective clients.
  • Makes professional and technical recommendations regarding project design and/or corrective measures.
  • Problem-solve and determine compliance issue resolutions.
  • Participate in sales and marketing efforts in the region.
  • Identify and develop markets and new business opportunities.
  • Research and build relationships with new clients.
  • Participate in strategic planning, development, and the implementation of marketing programs.
  • Initiate and develop contact with existing relationships through client management and relationship building.
  • Develop trust and credibility with clients by engaging in business discussions.
  • Review and search 12-month look-ahead schedules and identify which should be a priority.
  • Pursue work on behalf of the services provided; prepare or coordinate for estimates and bids to be prepared for potential work and is involved in other business development activities.
  • Perform client billing reviews.
  • Perform review of Profit & Loss Statement and monitor the department's revenue and expense budgets.
  • Develop and monitor office budgets for revenue and expense.
  • Attend and participate in manager's meetings, other management meetings, strategic planning meetings, and establishing revenue goals and departmental/office budgets.
  • Develop and implement long-range strategic activities for the office.

Requirements:
  • B.S. in Civil or Construction Engineering required.
  • Master's degree in civil or construction engineering preferred.
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in a business-related field preferred.
  • Strong Civil/Construction/CMT background.
  • Strong CMT, Project, Construction Management background.
  • Basic management and supervision training.
  • Understanding of Business Math and Financial Statement analysis.
  • Professional Civil Engineering License in CA.
Compensation:

$200k - $275k Annually

The expected salary range for the position is displayed in accordance with the state's law. Final agreed-upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience.
