JOB DESCRIPTION:

Esperanza Cyber Charter School (ECCS) is seeking applications for a dedicated Home and School Visitor role. This position is essential in promoting student attendance and well-being by collaborating with students, families, educational staff, and community organizations. The Home and School Visitor will tackle attendance challenges, perform home visits, and liaise with various agencies to ensure that students maintain regular school attendance and receive necessary support.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Associate's degree required; Bachelor's degree preferred
  • 2-4 years of experience in an educational environment required
  • Experience engaging with students and families in a related capacity
  • Bilingual (Spanish and English) preferred
  • Proven leadership abilities
  • A strong commitment to education and the belief that every child deserves equal opportunities
  • Current background checks including FBI fingerprints, PA Criminal, and Child Abuse clearances
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Investigate non-attendance cases to verify the legitimacy of absence excuses
  • Enforce district policies and regulations regarding school attendance
  • Conduct home visits to address attendance concerns
  • Communicate effectively with families and students regarding truancy matters
  • Engage with students and families facing barriers to attendance, discipline, and corrective measures
  • Monitor attendance records and identify absenteeism trends
  • Ensure adherence to state and local attendance laws, including legal action when necessary
  • Develop and implement intervention strategies to assist frequently absent students, coordinating with educators, counselors, and social workers
  • Collaborate with school personnel, families, community organizations, and law enforcement to tackle truancy issues
  • Maintain comprehensive records of interventions and outcomes related to truancy cases
  • Educate students, families, and the community on the significance of regular school attendance and the implications of truancy
  • Support preventive initiatives such as attendance incentives, mentoring programs, and peer support groups
  • Utilize school security software to promptly address student safety and behavioral issues
  • Act as a liaison between the school and community agencies, including public and private welfare and law enforcement
  • Participate in attendance committee meetings and manage referrals to school support services
  • Communicate with families regarding students with multiple absences
  • Assist in the Student Assistance Program (SAP) for students in need
  • Support the implementation and management of ProjectGo
  • Assist students and families experiencing homelessness and connect them with available resources
  • Attend workshops and professional development sessions focused on enhancing school climate and behavior
  • Obtain necessary certifications as required
  • Assist with the responsibilities of the attendance team as needed
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by school administration.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Ability to sit for extended periods while performing job duties
  • Frequent use of hands, fingers, and arms, with excellent hand-eye coordination
  • Ability to hear clearly and communicate effectively
  • Occasional physical activities including walking, bending, squatting, reaching, and climbing stairs
  • Occasional standing for extended periods
  • Ability to see and perform visual tasks such as reviewing paperwork and using a computer
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 30 lbs.
  • Ability to be present on-site for all required days.
