Phlebotomy Specialist

As a Phlebotomist Floater at PathGroup, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our Patient Service Centers (PSCs) and In-office Phlebotomy (IOP) locations. Under the direction of the area supervisor, you will perform daily phlebotomy activities accurately and on time, interacting with clients, patients, and PathGroup personnel in a professional and courteous manner.
Key Responsibilities:- Travel to client assignments within a designated region with short notice.
- Greet customers appropriately and treat all customers in a courteous manner.
- Ensure all field phlebotomy and PSC specimens are collected accurately and on time.
- Collect specimens according to established procedures and explain the process of venipuncture or other specimen collection in a clear and courteous manner.
- Dispose of blood or other biohazard fluids or tissue in accordance with applicable laws, standards, or policies.
- Complete requisitions accurately and enter patient, specimen, insurance, or billing information into the computer.
- Communicate with clients to confirm handwritten orders, verify test(s) ordered, and obtain accurate billing information.
- Research test/client information utilizing the lab computer system.
- Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes and label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order.
- Pack specimens for transport and store specimen samples according to required temperature.
- Maintain required records and documentation, including daily records and PSC/IOP Phlebotomy logs.
- Assist with compilation of monthly statistics and data.
- Perform basic clerical duties, such as filing, faxing, and preparing mail.
- Approve time in attendance software and submit accurate expense and travel logs.
- Demonstrate organizational commitment and adhere to departmental and company code of grooming and dress code policies.
- Prior job-related experience required (1-3 years).
- Must have access to reliable transportation and communication, with proof of auto insurance.
- Valid Drivers' license with a minimum of 1 year driving experience and less than 3 minor moving violation convictions within the previous 3 years.
- Overnight stays may be required.
