POSITION OBJECTIVE

The role entails overseeing all operational facets of clinical services, encompassing workflow management, staffing, and financial performance within the Clinic and Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC). The aim is to ensure the delivery of efficient, effective, safe, and comprehensive patient care while meeting business and organizational goals. This position promotes a collaborative atmosphere by working closely with management and physician leadership on strategic initiatives and ongoing quality enhancement.


SUPERVISORY DUTIES

Includes oversight of Clinic Supervisors, Advanced Practice Providers (APPs), and the ASC Manager.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Oversee and coordinate patient care services; assess, plan, implement, and evaluate all care aspects.
  2. Provide clinical leadership and supervision of staff; implement and uphold clinical practice and quality management standards in the Clinic and ASC.
  3. Demonstrate effective delegation and coordination of tasks and responsibilities in accordance with relevant job descriptions and individual competencies.
  4. Set expectations and exemplify behaviors that reflect service excellence to staff, modeling high standards of patient care.
  5. Evaluate and determine staffing levels based on patient care requirements, patient flow, and other clinical necessities to ensure optimal operations.
  6. Collaborate with physicians and staff to enhance quality customer service and patient satisfaction.
  7. Offer guidance on complex clinical situations in a composed and assured manner.
  8. Exhibit effective leadership through strong communication and interpersonal skills, holding regular meetings to address issues and facilitate problem-solving.
  9. Delegate appropriate responsibilities and authority to staff based on relevant job descriptions and individual capabilities.
  10. Assist staff in adapting to changes and foster a positive work environment.
  11. Ensure compliance of all clinical services with policies and regulatory standards, implementing necessary protocols, and leading safety and quality initiatives.
  12. Conduct interviews and recommend hiring of qualified candidates, ensuring thorough orientation and onboarding for new staff.
  13. Administer effective employee performance management through ongoing coaching and development, providing timely and consistent feedback including annual evaluations.
  14. Support ASC Supervisors as a resource.
  15. Address non-performance issues effectively, seeking assistance from Human Resources as needed.
  16. Establish and maintain effective communication, authority, and accountability lines for clinical operations.
  17. Build productive relationships with divisional management, including executive and physician leadership, as well as corporate central services staff.
  18. Maintain open communication with providers and staff; encourage teamwork and collaboration across the organization.
  19. Recommend operating and capital budgets, monitoring resource allocation, and planning for budgets, cost control, and staffing.
  20. Mitigate infection risks for patients, employees, and visitors by ensuring a safe environment.
  21. Maintain accurate, timely, and complete documentation.

PRIMARY DUTIES
  • Participate in practice meetings as required.
  • In collaboration with Supervisors, develop, plan, and regularly schedule Clinic and ASC Department meetings.
  • Conduct continuous program assessment and performance improvement monitoring.
  • Complete special projects or activities as assigned by the Practice Director.
  • Interpret and apply organizational policies and procedures in compliance with the organization.
  • Ensure accurate tracking and reporting of time, attendance, and paid-time-off records.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Completion of RN degree from an accredited nursing school; BSN preferred.
  • Active State of Maine Nursing license or eligibility for licensure.
  • Minimum of 3 years nursing experience with prior leadership roles.
  • Current BLS certification required.
  • Understanding of budgets and financial strategies.
  • Ability to demonstrate initiative, insight, and judgment in decision-making processes.
  • Knowledge of risk management, HIPAA, and patient safety protocols.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective interaction with patients, physicians, supervisors, and staff.
