About the Role

This position requires a strong background in language and cultural expertise, with the ability to provide integrated services that promote, facilitate, and enhance USSOUTHCOM capabilities to meet the Commander's priorities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Senior Language Authority in overseeing the design and execution of language and cultural education programs.
  • Assess language and cultural proficiency needs, coordinate with various military and educational institutions, and integrate these capabilities into operational planning and execution.
  • Enhance military operations through expertise in languages, cultural awareness, and regional knowledge.
  • Oversee the quality of translated written materials and real-time verbal interpretation during exercises and training.
  • Ensure that cultural briefings and training sessions to educate military personnel on regional customs and sensitivities.
Requirements
  • 10-15 years experience in DoD Language programs and knowledge of DoDIs such as familiarity with the Service level Orders pertaining to LREC.
  • Experience in gathering LREC requirements and conducting needs analysis, in order to support the design and execution of meaningful and sustainable language and cultural education programs.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills to advise leaders on military operations' impact on the AOs through expertise in languages, cultural awareness, and regional knowledge.
  • Experience in the vetting and management of programs with requirements for translation and interpretation of both written material and verbal.
Preferred Qualifications
  • PhD with 4+ years of experience, Bachelor's degree with 18+ years of experience, Associates degree with 20+ years of experience, or High School diploma with 22+ years of experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and execute long-term strategic goals and objectives.
  • Demonstrated analytic abilities to evaluate complex data, resolve inconsistencies, and propose innovative solutions to challenging problems.
Clearance and Location
  • Requires a Top Secret/SCI clearance.
  • Location: Miami, FL and/or Bogota, Colombia.
