Chief Executive Officer (Non-Profit) - Direct Hire

Summary:

The Chief Executive Officer is accountable to the Board of Directors for the effective and efficient financial, operational, and administrative management of a faith-based organization. The CEO provides overall strategic leadership for the entity.

Travel: Travel is anticipated within the organization's service areas. Additional travel may be necessary for special projects as approved by the board.

Key Responsibilities:

Community Engagement:
  • Serve as the organization's representative in the community and advocate for accessible housing. Act as the primary spokesperson for the organization.
  • Establish and nurture relationships with local coalitions, media, supporters, and donors, including individuals, corporations, religious groups, government agencies, and other organizations.
  • Guide and support staff and board members in fundraising initiatives, including the cultivation of significant religious, corporate, civic, and private foundations, as well as individual contributors.
Administrative Oversight:
  • Function as the Chief Administrator overseeing all facets of the organization's operations, including construction, volunteer engagement, fundraising, public relations, family selection, and mortgage regulations.
  • Implement policies and procedures approved by the board. Assist the board in reviewing and revising necessary and best practice policies for non-profit organizations.
  • Attract, hire, develop, and retain high-performing staff and volunteers. Foster a culture of inclusion among team members. Provide direction to staff in their roles, including defining job descriptions. Ensure annual performance evaluations for all employees. Manage personnel in accordance with established policies.
  • Ensure compliance with all donation requirements and adherence to local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
Financial Oversight:
  • Possess a comprehensive understanding of the organization's financial health. Responsible for maintaining sound financial practices developed in collaboration with the board.
  • Ensure that sufficient funds are available to enable the organization to fulfill its mission through fundraising, grant applications, donor development, and other sources.
  • Collaborate closely with staff, finance committee, and board of directors to prepare the annual budget and ensure operations remain within budgetary guidelines. Provide the board with budget updates and required financial statements, including an annual audit.
  • Work alongside the board treasurer to provide financial training to new board members, ensuring each member understands their fiscal responsibilities.
  • Understand mortgage laws and regulations to ensure compliance in residential real estate and mortgage lending.
Support for the Board of Directors:
  • Communicate the organization's activities, successes, and challenges to the Board of Directors. Keep the board informed of developments in affordable housing.
  • Assist the board in making strategic decisions, setting policies, and preparing plans for the organization's programs and services.
  • Actively participate in board meetings and assist the Board President in creating agendas and supporting documents.
  • Collaborate with the board to recruit, nominate, and train new members.
  • Work with the board to delineate which decisions require board involvement and which can be made by staff and committees.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Direct experience in non-profit leadership, particularly in affordable housing.
  • Demonstrated experience working with a Board of Directors.
  • Proven success in non-profit fundraising, including grant writing, leading fundraising campaigns, and managing relationships with major donors.
  • Understanding of mortgage regulations and real estate documentation.
  • Knowledge of basic construction techniques, budgeting, scheduling, and planning.
Compensation / Pay Rate (Up to): $80,000 - $90,000.00 Per Year
