Role Overview

At Blue Origin, we're pushing the boundaries of space exploration and development. As a Technician - Integration Engineering III, you'll play a critical role in our mission to make space travel accessible and affordable for millions of people. This position requires a strong background in aerospace manufacturing, integration, and quality assurance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manufacture, assemble, and test custom machine hardware according to written procedures, engineering models, work orders, drawings, and specifications.
  • Setup new production work areas, including tooling and equipment.
  • Perform second-party verifications and hardware inspections of engineering models, drawings, specifications, and written procedures.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and correct malfunctions by modification, rework, repair, and/or maintenance.
  • Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for recurrence control.
  • Operate various material handling equipment including forklifts, overhead cranes, aerial lifts, flight vehicle and subassembly transportation equipment.
  • Setup and operate a wide range of precision calibrated tools including, but not limited to, torque wrenches, micrometers, calipers, laser trackers, height gauges, and optical measuring instruments.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement projects for area safety and efficiency.
  • Perform routine maintenance functions such as daily clean-up of work areas to support 5S, FOD, and ESD.
Requirements
  • 5+ years of experience in aerospace manufacturing, integration, or other large/complex assembly manufacturing environment.
  • High School diploma, GED or equivalent experience.
  • Interpret engineering models, drawings, specifications, written work instructions, test procedures and P&IDs.
  • Experience operating heavy lifting equipment such as cranes and forklifts around critical hardware.
  • Experience using common assembly and integration tools.
  • Climb ladders/stairs and work in small, restricted areas.
  • Work at heights on work stands and in lifts.
  • Perform repetitive work, including lifting of items up to 40lbs.
  • Experience with verbal and written communication of technical data, results, and associated tools (confluence, MS-Office suite).
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Industry certification, trade school training, and/or degree in a related field.
  • Work effectively with a strong work ethic and close attention to detail in a fast-paced dynamic team environment with rapidly changing roles and responsibilities.
  • Experience in handling large/expensive components.
  • Experience in laser tracker operation.
  • Experience in assembling large tight-tolerance structures.
  • Experience in new product introduction.
  • Experience in a team-based Lean Manufacturing environment.
  • Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma certification.
