Blood Bank Supervisor Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Blood Bank Supervisor to oversee the daily operations of our blood bank, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety in blood transfusion services.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage a team of blood bank technicians and ensure adequate staffing levels
  • Supervise the processing, storage, and distribution of blood and blood products
  • Implement and monitor quality control procedures to maintain AABB accreditation standards
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to coordinate blood transfusion services for patients
  • Maintain inventory of blood products and ensure proper stock levels
  • Train staff on blood bank procedures and safety protocols
  • Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to strategic planning initiatives
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or related field (Master's degree preferred)
  • Certification as a Specialist in Blood Banking (SBB) strongly preferred
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a clinical laboratory setting, with specific experience in blood banking
  • 1 year of supervisory or management experience preferred
  • Strong knowledge of blood bank operations, including regulatory requirements (FDA, AABB, CAP)
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and make critical decisions under pressure
  • Proficiency in using laboratory information systems (LIS) and other relevant software
