Key Responsibilities:- Manage a team of blood bank technicians and ensure adequate staffing levels
- Supervise the processing, storage, and distribution of blood and blood products
- Implement and monitor quality control procedures to maintain AABB accreditation standards
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to coordinate blood transfusion services for patients
- Maintain inventory of blood products and ensure proper stock levels
- Train staff on blood bank procedures and safety protocols
- Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to strategic planning initiatives
- Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or related field (Master's degree preferred)
- Certification as a Specialist in Blood Banking (SBB) strongly preferred
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a clinical laboratory setting, with specific experience in blood banking
- 1 year of supervisory or management experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of blood bank operations, including regulatory requirements (FDA, AABB, CAP)
- Excellent leadership and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and make critical decisions under pressure
- Proficiency in using laboratory information systems (LIS) and other relevant software
