The Anesthesia Technology Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the operational activities of the Anesthesia Technicians. This role ensures the effective management of daily operations within the anesthesia department.
Qualifications for Employment:
Five years of experience in anesthesia support or certification as a Certified Anesthesia Technician (Cer. A.T.) or Technologist by the American Society of Anesthesia Technologist and Technicians (ASATT). Alternatively, candidates may hold LPN or EMT-P credentials with a minimum of three years of experience in an anesthesia support capacity, or EMT-B, CNA, CMA, or CCMA with at least five years of relevant experience.
Current BLS certification is required.
Experience Requirements:
Mandatory:
A minimum of three to five years of experience in a medical support role within Anesthesia.
Preferred:
Five or more years as a Certified Anesthesia Technician (Cer. A.T.) or in a supportive role within an anesthesia department, along with at least two years of supervisory experience.
Educational Background:
Mandatory:
High School Diploma or equivalent. Candidates must obtain certification as CAT, EMT-P, LPN, EMT-B, CMA, CCMA, or CNA within 24 months of hire.
Preferred:
Training in Conflict Resolution and a Bachelor’s Degree in a health-related field.
Independent Responsibilities:
The supervisor must prioritize staff activities while effectively communicating with anesthesia providers regarding operational needs and expectations. This role includes overseeing the cleaning of airway equipment and ensuring compliance with corporate standards.
Supervisory Duties:
Direct supervision of Anesthesia Technicians.
Additional Requirements:
Availability to work various shifts, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays, is essential. Flexibility to provide oversight during off-shifts is also required.
Physical and Mental Requirements:
Physical lifting of less than 20 lbs is expected. The role involves prolonged standing, sitting, frequent bending, and walking. Strong recall, reasoning, problem-solving skills, and the ability to communicate clearly are necessary for success in this fast-paced environment. Candidates must be adaptable to frequent changes and able to manage multiple priorities effectively.
