Job Summary

The Radiologic Technologist Supervisor is responsible for providing day-to-day supervision for an assigned Radiology area, ensuring compliance with STAR Service, legal and regulatory requirements, and maintaining high-quality clinical operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and coordinate the daily clinical operations of the assigned Radiology area, ensuring efficient and effective care.
  • Develop and implement new initiatives, programs, and policies to improve departmental safety, quality, and teamwork.
  • Collaborate with Radiology Supervisors, Managers, Faculty, and staff to ensure a high-performing department.
  • Ensure compliance with VCU and VCUHS policies and procedures.
  • Develop and maintain staff education and competencies, including educational materials and competency forms.
  • Provide education to assigned team members, students, residents, and other learners.
Requirements
  • Certification by the American Registry of Radiology Technologist (ARRT) required for Diagnostic Supervisor.
  • Plus one of the following current specialty registries that is directly related to their department: ARRT in Mammography for Breast Imaging Supervisor, ARRT CT for CT Supervisor, ARRT MRI for MRI Supervisor, ARRT CV or VIR for Interventional Supervisor, ARRT CT or MRI required for 3D lab supervisor, (CI) Cardiac Interventional Radiography, (RCIS) Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist, (RCES) Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of Lead Tech radiologic technology experience.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of technical experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience performing in a leadership role.
  • Previous work experience in an academic medical center environment.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Clinical Radiation Science, Business, or closely related field from an accredited program.
  • Master's Degree in Health Administration, Business Administration, or closely related field from an accredited program.
Working Conditions

The Radiologic Technologist Supervisor works in a fast-paced environment with frequent and intense customer interactions. The position requires strong recall, reasoning, problem-solving, and logical thinking skills. The supervisor must be able to handle multiple priorities and adapt to frequent changes.
