Scientific Business Development Associate

We are seeking a part-time Scientific Business Development Associate with a science background (at least a Bachelor of Science degree) to contact and recruit commercial companies to participate in a study. The contract will be for 1 year in duration and the individual would be expected to work no more than 15 hours per week. The estimated salary for this position is $60,000 - $80,000 per year.
The successful candidate will be focused on enlisting firms for the two studies outlined below:
- The PFAS Study: The individual will identify and contact 250 companies that handle PFAS with the objective of identifying 4 worksites to participate in the PFAS OEHIA Study (no more than 2 sites per industry setting).
- The Monoterpenes Study: The individual will contact 150 companies that handle monoterpenes from an existing contact list that will be provided by the project officer with the objective of identifying 3 worksites to participate in the Monoterpenes Study.
The individual will perform the following tasks:
- Perform Google searches to find matching companies.
- Call the companies to identify and speak with (or leave voicemail) for a health and safety officer or management official to discuss the study.
- The calls should be made during business hours, Monday – Friday and should not occur at the exact same time/day of the week as previous calls.
- Make follow-up phone calls to contact the above individual.
- Must maintain and update a spreadsheet table detailing the timelines for when each follow-up call / email was made.
- If a company requests additional information, the individual will inform the government and they will send the requested information.
Note: the individual will be provided with will call and voicemail scripts, study fact sheets that summarizes the studies, resources describing uses of PFAS, and standard operating procedures for recruitment of companies.
Candidate Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a scientific field like biology, chemistry, or other related science field.
- Key Skill: Must be able to make cold calls to identified companies.
- Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
- Good oral and written communications skills.
- Ability to pay attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate both verbally and written regarding technical and non-technical information.
