Position Summary
As a Maintenance Operations Supervisor, you will report directly to the Maintenance Manager and oversee the maintenance department's activities, focusing on the repair and upkeep of both shaft and surface production machinery. Your role will involve planning and executing electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic repairs for our operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols and foster a culture of safe work practices.
- Supervise and evaluate repair processes, materials, and tools to maintain safe working conditions.
- Deliver high-quality work within designated timelines.
- Manage preventative maintenance schedules for all equipment.
- Analyze recurring work orders to improve repair methodologies.
- Collaborate with storeroom staff to maintain appropriate inventory levels.
- Procure necessary parts to ensure equipment availability.
- Track and report on the time worked by team members under your supervision.
- Understand and apply collective bargaining agreements and company policies to promote positive labor relations.
- Step in for the underground supervisor when required.
- Be prepared to work rotating shifts, including nights and weekends, as business needs dictate.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- A minimum of five years of maintenance experience, particularly with hoist systems and shaft maintenance.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proficient in troubleshooting and interpreting schematics for pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical systems.
- Knowledgeable in hydraulics, welding, blueprint interpretation, carpentry, rigging, diesel maintenance, basic electrical work, and plumbing.
- High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
- Experience in underground mining is essential.
- Basic proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite and Maintenance Management Systems.
- Familiarity with Mining Law and Good Mining Practices.
- Prior supervisory experience in maintenance is preferred.
- Five years of experience with drum hoists and mine shaft maintenance.
- Technical training in mechanical maintenance is advantageous.
Work Environment
- Ability to work safely in varying temperatures, both indoors and outdoors.
- Must be capable of lifting and carrying weights of up to 65+ pounds regularly.
- Required to wear safety gear, including steel-toed shoes and safety glasses.
- Willingness to work overtime as needed.
- Comfortable working at heights as necessary.
