Job Overview
As a Quality Assurance Inspector at Instron, you will operate with minimal oversight, utilizing precision mechanical measuring tools and optical equipment to assess components or assemblies against established specifications. Your role will also involve documenting and reporting the status of inspected items.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct inspections of mechanical components or assemblies by measuring with mechanical and optical instruments, ensuring adherence to engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Utilize instruments such as verniers, micrometers, hardness testers, CMM, and test fixtures to guarantee compliance with quality standards.
  • Develop and enhance inspection methodologies for parts and assemblies based on guidelines, creativity, or past experiences.
  • Participate in the supplier qualification process as necessary.
  • Document and communicate the status of inspected items to the Supervisor or relevant department leaders.
  • Provide quality recommendations and address issues to your supervisor and manufacturing department supervisors.
  • Oversee the calibration of inspection tools to maintain accuracy.
  • Advise on the acquisition of necessary test gauges, fixtures, or instruments.
  • Inspect and process returned goods from customers, following RMA procedures.
  • Assist in training junior inspectors and colleagues.
  • Perform first article inspections on the production floor and establish inspection criteria.
  • Examine finishing processes such as painting and plating for any defects.
  • Collaborate with vendors to ensure that finishing requirements are fulfilled.
  • Issue internal corrective actions and actively participate in the Material Review Board.
  • Support production engineers in identifying root causes and implementing corrective and preventive actions.
  • Conduct incoming inspections of purchased or outsourced components.
