Your Role

We are seeking a dedicated onsite Source Inspector to primarily support our quality assurance initiatives. In this pivotal role, you will be embedded at supplier facilities, ensuring that our products meet the highest quality standards. This position offers the flexibility to work on an on-call as-needed basis. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting comprehensive inspections of products prior to shipment.
  • Identifying defects or issues and collaborating with suppliers and product quality engineers to address them.
  • Ensuring compliance with our stringent quality standards.
  • Documenting inspection results and working closely with the quality assurance team.
  • Acting as the final checkpoint to prevent the shipment of substandard products.

This role is essential to our quality control process, directly influencing customer satisfaction and our brand's reputation. We are looking for meticulous individuals who take pride in their work and thrive in collaborative environments.

Daily Responsibilities

The Source Inspector will perform inspections on in-process and final products, including printed wiring assemblies (PWAs), cable assemblies, and box builds. This involves interpreting bills of materials (BOMs), engineering drawings, and specifications, as well as conducting IPC610 workmanship inspections using specialized equipment. Familiarity with Agile for configuration management and Oracle for reporting inspection results is required. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential.

Qualifications
  • Minimum of 2 years of inspection experience with PWAs and box builds; cable inspection experience is advantageous.
  • Proficient in interpreting BOMs, drawings, and specifications.
  • Ability to verify hardware and cable installations according to drawings.
  • Experience with First Article inspections as necessary.
  • Capability to finalize quality reports in Oracle.
  • Familiarity with Purchase Orders and quality provisions, including Supplier Certificates of Compliance and Reach/ROHS requirements.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with business-level proficiency in English.
  • IPC Certification or willingness to obtain certification.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time.

Compensation

The hourly wage for this position is $35.43. At Viasat, we consider various factors in determining compensation, including the role's scope and your experience. Base pay may vary based on job-related knowledge and skills. Additional incentives may be offered as part of the overall compensation package, alongside a comprehensive range of benefits focused on your health and wellness.
