Position Overview: Specialist Educator for Students with Visual Impairments

Job Summary: We are looking for a dedicated Specialist Educator to support students with visual impairments. This role is essential in fostering independence and enhancing mobility skills among students in an educational setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver tailored instruction to students with visual impairments, emphasizing mobility and orientation skills.
  • Design and execute personalized education plans (IEPs) that cater to the distinct needs of each student.
  • Work collaboratively with general education instructors, families, and other professionals to promote a comprehensive approach to learning.
  • Conduct evaluations to assess students' visual and mobility capabilities, identifying areas for growth.
  • Establish and maintain a nurturing and secure learning atmosphere that encourages self-sufficiency and confidence.
  • Stay informed about the latest methodologies and advancements in the realm of visual impairment and mobility education.
Qualifications:
  • Possession of a valid state certification or endorsement as a Specialist Educator for Students with Visual Impairments.
  • Experience in working with students with visual impairments, ideally within an educational framework.
  • Familiarity with assistive technologies and adaptive tools utilized by visually impaired students.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • A dedication to student-focused education and a positive demeanor.
