Health Advocates Network is looking for a Teacher for Visually Impaired Students to join our team. This role is a registry position within our organization.

Compensation Package:

Weekly Gross Pay = $680

Local Hourly Rate (Taxable) = $17

Weekly Travel Stipend (Non-Taxed) = $1813 (Hotel-1260 Meals-553)

Total Weekly Compensation = $2493

Effective Hourly Rate = $62.325

$2493 divided by 40 hours = $62.325

Work Schedule:
  • Monday to Friday, 8 AM - 4 PM
Position Overview:

We are in search of a committed and skilled Teacher for the Visually Impaired to enhance our educational team. The selected candidate will deliver specialized instruction and support to students with visual challenges, ensuring they have access to learning materials and fostering their independence and success in an educational environment.

Key Responsibilities:

- Assess students' visual capabilities and educational requirements

- Create and execute individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored for students with visual impairments

- Provide direct teaching in academic subjects, orientation and mobility skills, and daily living activities

- Modify educational resources and technology to cater to the needs of visually impaired students

- Collaborate with classroom educators, support personnel, and families to promote students' academic and social growth

- Offer guidance and training to school staff on effective strategies for assisting students with visual impairments

- Advocate for the educational rights and needs of visually impaired students

- Stay updated on best practices in educating students with visual impairments and relevant educational regulations

Qualifications:

- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education or a related discipline

- Certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired in Washington State

- Experience in working with visually impaired students in an educational context

- Proficiency in Braille and assistive technology for visually impaired learners

- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities

- Capacity to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team

- Knowledge of state and federal regulations regarding special education services

Eligible for travel rate if permanent residence is 50+ miles away
