Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Group Leader, Environmental Services to join our team at Massachusetts General Hospital. As a key member of our Environmental Services department, you will be responsible for leading a team of Environmental Services personnel and ensuring that the department and hospital policies, procedures, and standards are met.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage a team of Environmental Services personnel, providing guidance and support to ensure the successful completion of tasks and projects.
  • Develop and implement effective housekeeping schedules and assign employees to areas for various housekeeping duties.
  • Conduct comprehensive inspections to check the completion of work assignments and ensure that employees have adequate supplies and equipment.
  • Report problems, concerns, and recommendations to the Area Manager/Department.
  • Participate in interviewing, hiring, training, and orientation of assigned employees.
  • Assign duties and supervise the performance of employees, inspecting their work and documenting quality and performance.
  • Make recommendations on follow-up training, disciplinary action, and terminations.
  • Assure that assignments are appropriately staffed and that adequate supplies and equipment are available for completion of assignments.
  • Coordinate activities/assignments with other departments to complete assigned projects.
  • Assure that medical waste/HIPAA-sensitive materials are disposed of according to established regulations.
  • Participate in emergency response drills and perform any or all Environmental Services functions as necessary.
Requirements
  • High school diploma preferred.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Two years previous housekeeping experience.
  • Driver's License Required.
Working Conditions

Frequent exposure to dust, dirt, blood, body waste, and contaminated waste. Possibility of cuts, needle punctures, and strains. Occasional exposure to caustic chemicals and hazards that may cause relatively serious injury or illness.
