Role Overview

The Land Acquisition Specialist will play a crucial role in identifying development opportunities for Utility Scale Solar and Distributed Generation projects across targeted regions. Responsibilities will encompass formulating market strategies, conducting site assessments, acquiring land, and negotiating contracts with landowners. The ideal candidate will manage site evaluations based on grid capacity and site limitations, while also identifying key development prospects and landowner contacts. The role involves structuring and negotiating various commercial agreements, including leases and easements, for parcels ranging from 10 to 1,000 acres.

Key Responsibilities

  • Market Research: Generate and present internal reports on land development opportunities.
  • Lead Generation: Identify potential land opportunities and gather landowner contact information.
  • Site Evaluations: Assess sites and conduct preliminary due diligence.
  • Sales Outreach: Engage with landowners through cold calling, addressing objections, and navigating the sales process.
  • CRM Management: Document all communications and updates within the CRM system, organizing leads and opportunities effectively.
  • Contract Negotiation: Finalize site control agreements, including land leases and purchase options.
  • Tracking and Reporting: Maintain records of due diligence payments and ensure all legal documents are properly archived.

Performance Metrics

The candidate will be expected to present market research findings bi-monthly and develop strategies to identify unique opportunities. Key performance indicators will include:

  • Number of outbound and inbound calls per day
  • Contracts under review and prospecting activities
  • Monthly execution of land acquisition contracts

Qualifications

  • Experience in strategic planning
