Position Overview

The University of Iowa's Marketing and Communications division is in search of a Creative Media Developer to enhance its Digital and Multimedia team.

This role is essential in crafting and producing exceptional video and multimedia content that aligns with the university's mission and strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities

The Creative Media Developer will work closely with fellow marketing and communications professionals to design, develop, and produce various multimedia content, such as videos, animations, and visual assets.

Responsibilities include:
  • Managing multiple projects concurrently while ensuring timely completion, adherence to budget, and satisfaction of diverse audiences, including students, faculty, and the community.
  • Upholding the highest standards of quality and precision while following established branding and visual style guidelines.
  • Collaborating with team members to provide expertise in multimedia project planning, production, and post-production processes.
  • Contributing to the creation of creative briefs, proposals, and presentations under the guidance of senior team members.
  • Identifying opportunities for process enhancements and assisting in implementing solutions to boost efficiency and quality.
  • Communicating project updates and progress effectively to key stakeholders with support from senior team members.
Qualifications

Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, mass media production, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong collaborative, interpersonal, and teamwork abilities.
  • Capability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and improvement through the examination of multimedia works.
  • Willingness to work occasional weekends, early mornings, and evenings as needed.
Preferred:
  • At least six months of professional experience in multimedia production in a related role.
  • Proficiency in:
    • Using various capture devices, including Mirrorless, DSLR, and GoPro cameras.
    • Editing video with software such as Final Cut Pro and Adobe Premiere Pro.
    • Photo editing tools like Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom.
    • Utilizing wireless microphones and digital audio recorders.
    • Operating both MS/WINDOWS and Macintosh OS systems, along with engineering systems for special events.
  • Ability to assist in the setup and composition of in-field camera, microphone, and lighting arrangements for diverse scenarios.
  • Experience in healthcare videography for storytelling or marketing purposes is advantageous.
