The Sales Manager plays a crucial role in overseeing the sales initiatives of Account Managers within their designated sector, aiming to enhance revenue and profitability. Key Responsibilities:
Team Leadership (40%)
- Articulate the sales strategy and expectations for the assigned sector.
- Define service levels and payment terms in accordance with established guidelines.
- Set Gross-Profit objectives and establish team and individual performance metrics.
- Inspire the sales team to meet regional performance targets.
- Ensure Account Managers develop and maintain comprehensive sales plans for key clients.
- Guide the team in targeting the right customers using CRM tools.
- Assist in prioritizing new customer leads and managing campaign execution.
- Encourage collaboration with internal teams and product experts to enhance customer solutions.
- Address underperformance within the team and participate in recruitment efforts.
- Promote professional development through training and coaching initiatives.
- Manage staffing plans considering absences and necessary replacements.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and legal regulations in all commercial activities.
- Stay informed on market trends and product knowledge through ongoing training.
- Identify growth opportunities and collaborate with Product Management.
- Formulate effective sales strategies considering market dynamics.
- Develop strategies for customer retention.
- Contribute to the leadership team to shape future sales directions.
- Conduct regular one-on-one meetings with Account Managers to review performance.
- Facilitate coaching sessions to provide constructive feedback.
- Organize team meetings to assess performance and share best practices.
- Coordinate external training sessions to enhance the skills of Account Managers.
- Serve as the primary escalation point for pricing issues.
- Offer guidance on pricing strategies and differentiation.
- Encourage excellence in pricing practices among Account Managers.
- Review pricing that falls below established thresholds.
- Ensure accurate documentation of customer interactions in the CRM system.
- Monitor team performance through CRM reports and sales campaigns.
- Prepare sales and revenue reports and develop action plans accordingly.
- Drive digital transformation initiatives within the sales team.
Education and Experience:
- Post-secondary education in Business, Science, or a related field is preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of leadership experience in a sales role within the chemical distribution sector.
- Demonstrated success in achieving sales growth and meeting business objectives.
- A degree in office administration or a relevant field is advantageous.
