Job Summary

The California State University is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Student Assistant for Basic Needs to support the Campus Pantry program. As a key member of the team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the success of this initiative.

Key Responsibilities
  • Distribute food and other essential items to students in need.
  • Interact with and assist students, providing a supportive and non-judgmental environment.
  • Set up and manage Pop-up Thursdays, a weekly event offering fresh fruits and vegetables to students.
  • Receive and inventory food donations, ensuring the Pantry's supplies are adequately stocked.
  • Prepare and distribute additional resources, such as toiletries and household items, to students.
  • Compile weekly summaries and semester reports on Pantry activities and attendance.
  • Support the creation of marketing materials, including flyers, newsletters, and social media updates.
  • Collaborate with on- and off-campus organizations to promote the Pantry and its services.
  • Develop and implement projects to enhance the Pantry's operations and impact.
  • Assist students in navigating the CalFresh benefits program.
  • Plan and execute at least one community service or outreach program per month.
Requirements
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other standard office equipment.
  • Ability to create engaging flyers and marketing materials.
  • Knowledge of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
Working Conditions

This is a part-time position, requiring approximately 20 hours of work per week. The successful candidate will be expected to work during Campus Pantry operating hours, including donation and food sorting shifts, and food distributions.
