We are seeking a highly skilled Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator to join our team at New Castle County, DE. As a Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator, you will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of wastewater treatment plants and associated facilities.
Key Responsibilities- Operate and Maintain Wastewater Treatment Plants: Direct the work of Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Trainees and maintenance personnel, evaluate physical, chemical, and biological tests, and take necessary action to correct any unsatisfactory conditions.
- Record and Interpret Readings: Record and interpret readings of meters and gauges, collect and perform tests on samples, including sample compositing procedures.
- Maintain and Repair Equipment: Perform overall plant and facility structure and grounds maintenance and cleanup, maintain and repair, and/or supervise the maintenance and repair of all equipment and processes.
- Keep Maintenance and Operational Records: Maintain and/or supervise the keeping of maintenance and operational records, attend training courses in the operation of wastewater treatment plants and sludge composting facilities.
- Operate Pumps and Equipment: Operate pumps and equipment, write reports as required, and act as individual in direct responsible charge of wastewater treatment plants at appropriate licensing level.
- Experience: At least three years of experience at or above the level of Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Trainee.
- Licenses and Certifications: Possession of a valid Delaware Class D driver's license or its equivalent, and a valid State of Delaware Class II Wastewater Treatment Facility Operator's license or possession of an equivalent Wastewater Treatment license from another state.
- Education: High school diploma or GED certificate.
