Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Structural Estimator to join our team at Kiewit Corporation. As an Estimator, you will play a critical role in preparing, reviewing, and presenting discipline estimates for specific project proposal activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop complete estimates for large, complex jobs
  • Collaborate with permanent design and construction engineering disciplines, in-house and Third Party
  • Review plans and specifications to develop a comprehensive understanding of the project
  • Conduct site investigation prior to forming a plan of operations to identify any problems or conditions of an unusual nature
  • Utilize engineering techniques and procedures to conduct investigation and adhere to standard company policy and procedures
  • Perform design work as required by the project that is beyond the estimator scope of experience
  • Stay abreast of trends and developments, such as new equipment, methods and procedures that are developing in the industry
  • Prepare special engineering studies or reports required by certain bid items or conditions
  • Prepare and manage subcontract and material supplier solicitations
  • Consult with clients on various challenges discovered during bid preparation, design, rates, schedules, etc.
Requirements
  • Degree in Construction Management, Engineering or related degree preferred
  • Broad knowledge and ability to understand project scheduling, cost control, specifications, and engineering drawings
  • 5+ yrs of construction/engineering experience, specifically with heavy civil infrastructure projects
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office products (e.g. Excel, Word, Outlook, Powerpoint)
  • Experience with InEight Estimate (HardDollar) preferred
  • Experience with CADD and 3D Modeling software preferred
  • Possess strong mathematical and computer skills
  • Must be able to meet deadlines
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Candidates must possess a strong work ethic
  • Work independently as well as part of a team
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Good attention to detail with the ability to recognize discrepancies
  • Knowledge of construction methods, costs and techniques
  • Knowledge of construction safety and current federal & OSHA Requirements
  • Must be willing to travel as the job requires
