Substation Project Engineer

POWER Engineers is seeking a skilled Substation Project Engineer to join our Power Delivery Substation Department in Denver, Colorado. As a hybrid work environment is available, flexibility is key for this role.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and direct others in the detailed design of medium to extra high voltage utility substations, including one-line diagrams, elementary and wiring diagrams, SCADA, communications, conduit and cable sizing/routing, substation physical layouts, selection of substation equipment, writing of substation equipment specifications, proposal development, construction cost estimates, and project scheduling.
  • Mentor less experienced staff in substation project execution.
  • Ensure POWER quality procedures are followed and that the team is resourced in an optimal manner.
  • Perform QA/QC for deliverables.
  • Manage scope, schedule, budget, and quality of assigned projects.
Requirements:
  • BSEE (BS Electrical Engineering) or BSEET (BS Electrical Engineering Technology) degree from an accredited university, preferably with a power option.
  • Experience in 15kV through 138kV substation design (Protection & Control or Physical/Civil/Structural).
  • Experience filling the role of project engineer for several substation projects occurring concurrently.
  • Strong command of the English language with good written and oral communication skills to work effectively with internal team members and external client personnel.
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. without the need for work sponsorship.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Five (5) or more years experience in utility substation design.
  • Professional Engineering license (PE).
  • Experience in 230 kV to 500 kV substation design and IEEE/ANSI standards.

Base Salary Range: $80K - $110K
