Job Summary:

CSPNJ is seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Outreach Worker to join our team in the City of Newark. As an Outreach Worker, you will play a critical role in identifying and connecting unsheltered homeless individuals with essential services and housing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct direct street outreach activities to identify and engage with unsheltered homeless individuals.
  • Build relationships with individuals experiencing homelessness, providing advocacy and support to connect them with resources and services.
  • Collaborate with community partners to provide comprehensive services and support to individuals in need.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports of outreach activities and client interactions.
  • Participate in regular team meetings and training sessions to enhance skills and knowledge.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience providing peer support or working with individuals with mental health and substance use issues.
  • Knowledge of HMIS software and ability to learn new systems.
  • Ability to establish positive relationships with individuals who are chronically homeless and have high vulnerability.
  • Valid NJ Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bilingual skills.
  • Experience working in a non-profit or social services setting.
  • Knowledge of transitional and permanent supportive housing.

Benefits:

  • Competitive salary range: $50,000 - $50,000 per year.
  • Benefits package including medical, dental, and vision coverage.
  • Six weeks of paid time off and 11 paid holidays.
