Schedule: Casual/On Call

Shift Differential Pay:

  • Weekday - 2nd shift: $1.75, 3rd shift: $2.25 + weekend shift differential pay 2nd shift: $3.25, 3rd shift: $3.75

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct both automated and manual testing, ensuring proper instrument maintenance. Identify, troubleshoot, and rectify instrument-related issues.
  • Exhibit efficiency and accuracy in a fast-paced environment while adapting to changes.
  • Assess the acceptability of specimens for testing based on established guidelines.
  • Execute routine and complex technical procedures in accordance with departmental Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Monitor, operate, and troubleshoot laboratory instruments to guarantee optimal functionality.
  • Demonstrate technical decision-making capabilities regarding testing and problem resolution.
  • Prepare, test, and evaluate new reagents or controls, ensuring accurate and timely reporting of test results to support quality patient care.
  • Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control measures.
  • Identify and restock testing bench supplies as necessary, assisting with specimen processing when required.
  • Maintain a safe working environment and utilize appropriate personal protective equipment.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a life science or laboratory science/Medical Technology.
  • Prior experience in a clinical laboratory is preferred.
  • ASCP certification as a Medical Technologist or equivalent is required.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Proficient in computer usage; familiarity with laboratory information systems is advantageous.
  • Strong attention to detail along with excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Must pass a standardized color vision screening.
  • Willingness to work overtime or alternate shifts based on business requirements.
