- Perform basic laboratory testing, point of care testing, phlebotomy, and other quality controls to ensure accurate results.
- Administer medications as directed by physician/nurse practitioner, maintaining patient safety and confidentiality.
- Assist physician/nurse practitioner with exams and procedures, providing support and guidance as needed.
- Accurately document medical information in patient records, maintaining confidentiality and adhering to HIPAA guidelines.
- Communicate test results with patients, ensuring they understand their health status and treatment options.
- Facilitate patient care activities, including scheduling ancillary tests, reinforcing patient education, and performing triage as directed.
- Maintain adequate inventory of medical, office, and pharmaceutical supplies, ensuring a well-stocked and organized workspace.
- Demonstrate professional behavior, adhering to established standards and expectations.
- Exercise timely, concise, and appropriate use of telephone to meet the needs of external and internal customers.
- Perform basic computer skills in using electronic health records proficiently, documenting patient information and communicating with healthcare team members.
- Process orders accurately and efficiently, ensuring timely completion of tasks.
- Experience as a back office medical assistant in a clinic setting, with one year of experience preferred.
- Completion of a medical assistant program, or equivalent experience, or completion of a formal medical services training program of the United States Armed Forces.
- Keyboard skills and ability to navigate electronic systems applicable to job functions.
