Job Overview

Position Summary:

ISI Professional Services is seeking a Senior Construction Engineer (SCE) to oversee and ensure effective monitoring of construction activities. The SCE will play a critical role in managing site operations for various projects, ensuring that all activities are conducted seamlessly and without interruption to ongoing operations. This position involves supervising and inspecting the work of multiple construction contractors engaged in various on-site projects, facilitating site visits, and ensuring compliance with contract specifications and safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. The SCE will organize and lead a variety of meetings at different project sites as directed by the Contracting Officer, including weekly progress meetings with contractors. Comprehensive meeting minutes will be documented for all discussions.
  2. Daily reports will be maintained by the SCE, detailing work activities for each assigned project.
  3. Prepare Requests for Price Proposals (RPPs) that outline the scope of work, referencing relevant specifications and including necessary illustrations. Cost estimates will be developed, detailing labor, materials, and equipment expenses, alongside assistance in contract modification documentation.
  4. Conduct quantity surveys and verify contractor progress payments, providing draft pay estimates and completed payment request forms to the project team.
  5. Review and log submittals for accuracy and completeness, ensuring shop drawings are properly tracked and updated throughout the process.
  6. Assess Contractor Quality Control (QC) daily reports for thoroughness and accuracy, documenting construction progress with photographs as necessary.
  7. Ensure contractor project records are updated to reflect all changes and modifications prior to each payment cycle.
  8. Compile and issue inspection deficiency lists to contractors, conducting inspections and drafting deficiency letters for review and approval.
  9. Verify that all operational manuals, warranties, and closeout documents meet contract requirements.
  10. Conduct site visits to off-site locations as requested by the Contracting Officer.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction, or a related field from an ABET-accredited institution, with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience and a Registered Professional Engineer license.
  • Alternatively, a master's degree in a related field with at least 6 years of experience, or a doctorate with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience.
  • Completion of OSHA 30 Hour Construction Safety Training or equivalent within 90 days of employment.
  • Proficiency in Primavera Project Planner (P3) schedules.
  • Possession of an active Top Secret clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional Engineer (PE) License, CCM, PMP, LEED AP, or AIA certifications.
  • Experience working in high-profile environments.

Physical Requirements:

This position is based in a professional office environment, requiring the ability to meet physical demands, including:

  • Flexibility in work hours as project needs arise.
  • Occasional lifting of 5 – 15 pounds.
  • Extended periods of sitting and standing.

Work Environment:

Standard business hours, Monday through Friday, with onsite responsibilities.
