Job Title: Application Engineer

Job Summary:

This role involves working with electromechanical automation systems, specifically with Mitsubishi Electric's PLCs, servos, and VFDs. As an Application Engineer, you will provide technical support for external and internal needs, serving as a technical link between manufacturers and users. Your responsibilities will include assisting in the planning, designing, constructing, and installing of components, systems, and equipment in an industrial environment, using product knowledge in conjunction with engineering skills and practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the development and testing of electromechanical automation systems and sub-assemblies, requiring software, programming, electrical, and mechanical knowledge.
  • Collaborate with the sales department to learn and understand products, technologies, and services, and provide technical support to others within and outside the company.
  • Design and develop solutions to meet customer needs and requirements, working closely with team members to learn about customer needs and requirements.
  • Assist with pre-sales and post-sale activities, including developing bills of materials and proposals to win sales and troubleshooting or commissioning afterwards to ensure successful sales.
  • Provide summaries, overviews, and training on the functionality and capability of products and services to the Sales team, serving as a technical liaison between them and the company's suppliers.
  • Research, collect, and report information on the capacity and ability of the company's products, services, and competitors.
  • Configure and program products using various manufacturers' software tools, teaching and supporting customers to be self-sufficient.
  • Interface with customers, sales, customer service, and vendors to provide necessary engineering input.
  • Create simple and effective tools to easily quote projects and support pricing to meet revenue and profitability goals.
  • Drive product and market share growth and customer satisfaction.
  • Actively participate in regular meetings to brief and train sales personnel.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree with a technical aptitude.
  • Continual product training will be required to maintain the position.
  • Cross-functional decision-making skills.
  • Strong written, verbal, persuasion, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work with a team as needed.
  • Able to make presentations to customers.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work to meet deadlines.
  • Proficient computer/media skills, such as Microsoft Office.
  • Understanding of programming, networks, and software.
  • Knowledge of PLCs and motion control is strongly desired.
  • Experience with Mitsubishi is very beneficial.
  • Experience with programming languages such as C++, Python, and.NET is a plus.

Physical Capabilities and Requirements:

  • Frequent physical movement (walking and sitting).
  • No special vision or work environment conditions.
  • Duties require the essential functions of making sales calls away from the office.
