Job Title: Automation Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Automation Specialist to join our team at Pepsi Beverages Company. As an Automation Specialist, you will play a critical role in maintaining and improving the performance of our automation equipment throughout the plant.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Equipment Expertise: Become the plant expert on the overall operation and performance of automation equipment, including ongoing operation and changeovers.
  • Training and Development: Function as a trainer, coach, and mentor to employees operating automation equipment on all lines across all shifts.
  • Troubleshooting: Troubleshoot automation issues (minor stops, defects, breakdowns) impairing production line's ability to meet targeted TE (True Efficiency) goals and work with front-line operators and supervision to develop and implement corrective action plans to resolve ongoing issues.
  • Leadership: Provide leadership to the automation work cells in an effort to continually improve overall performance capabilities and partner with vendors/suppliers, plant maintenance, and operations.
  • Compliance and Quality: Review automation CIL standards, centerline standards, and compliance on a daily basis and work with production supervisor to develop action plans to immediately address gaps.
  • SOPs and Procedures: Review and revise SOPs (safety, operation, quality, sanitation) as needed.
  • Assistance and Support: Assist operators and mechanics with PM events and emergency repairs as needed.
  • Changeovers and RCO: Assist operators in changeovers and work as an RCO (rapid changeover) resource to improve on-time completion of automation changeovers.
  • Performance Reviews and Communication: Attend performance review meetings and communicate downtime issues along with SRC (simple root cause) and corrective action.
  • Consistency and Resource: Ensure that automation reapplications take place across the entire production floor to ensure consistency.
  • Team Support: Serve as a resource for the automation tech team and participate in team activities.
  • Equipment Spare Parts: Work with maintenance to identify and audit equipment spare parts requirements.
  • Technical Support: Provide technical support for line TPM teams by attending NWT and/or DDE/Drumbeat events.
  • Equipment Operations: Support equipment operations by completing basic AM and/or PM activities.
  • Equipment Rebuild and Innovation: Support equipment rebuild operations and package/product innovation.
  • Training and Development: Conduct group trainings as needed.
  • Equipment Operation: Operate automation equipment as needed.
  • Organizational Capability: Participate on the organizational capability team.
  • Basic Understanding: Utilize a basic understanding of drives, lubricant, and fasteners when troubleshooting and performing tasks.
  • Safety and PPE: Abide by all safety regulations and wear all necessary and required PPE.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Certified to operate automation equipment.
  • Certified to operate equipment that requires a change-over.
