Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Assistant to join our team at Mercy Health System. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting the daily activities of our medical office.

Key Responsibilities
  • Room patients, collect assessment data, and prepare patients for specific needs.
  • Assist in examination, treatment, and other clinic procedures.
  • Conduct laboratory procedures, screening tests, and quality improvement projects.
  • Answer telephone calls, respond to inquiries, and initiate triage slips for medical personnel.
  • Schedule appointments and enter appointment dates and times into the computerized scheduler.
  • Conduct reminder calls to patients and greet and direct patients, salespeople, and visitors.
  • Register patients, verify patient records, and make necessary changes in the computer system and patient charts.
  • Coordinate referrals for patients through insurance and other physician offices.
  • Collect payment from patients and issue receipts as applicable.
  • Prepare and maintain patient charts and maintain and order supplies.

Requirements

We require a graduate of a medical assistant program accredited by the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) or the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP). Experience in a clinic setting is preferred. Approved CPR or BLS certification is required within 90 days, and medication injection training and pharmacology are required competencies.

Physical Demands

This role requires manual dexterity to operate equipment, perform procedures, and use a telephone and keyboard. You must be able to lift and transfer patients. While performing this job, you will frequently stand, walk, handle, finger, and feel; reach; talk and hear. You will occasionally sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, taste, and smell.
