Emporium TPO Compliance Paralegal Role

Emporium TPO is a leading wholesale origination platform dedicated to servicing professional mortgage brokers and non-delegated correspondent lenders. We are seeking a highly skilled Compliance Paralegal to join our team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the Chief Compliance Officer/Corporate Counsel with various legal and compliance tasks, including operational legal questions related to loan closing documents.
  • Assist with vendor and non-disclosure agreements, and provide regulatory compliance guidance.
  • Perform moderately complex legal compliance research, apply results to facts, and develop and communicate legal conclusions.
  • Review legal entity documents to assist loan operations in compliant loan closings.
  • Resolve complex issues or projects where professional expertise is required to apply law, regulation, policies, and guidelines.
  • Answer escalated compliance questions related to legal interpretation and provide guidance and training to other associates.
  • Assist in the preparation of reports for senior management and external regulatory bodies.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of consumer compliance mortgage lending (federal and state) compliance laws.
Requirements:
  • A post-baccalaureate paralegal certificate or associate's degree in paralegal studies and/or a paralegal certificate from a state bar association or an association of legal assistants, or equal.
  • 3 years of experience in a legal role supporting a mortgage origination, compliance, and/or legal department.
  • At least 1 year of experience reviewing and assisting with non-disclosure agreements, and vendor contracts.
  • Knowledge of residential lending industry processes and regulations required.
  • Knowledge or experience working in a real estate law and/or title services helpful.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as procedure manuals, legal correspondence, or regulations to disseminate requirements.
  • Demonstrated detailed-oriented professional.
  • Creative problem-solving skills matched with strength in executing under pressure.
  • Self-motivated with proven ability to take ownership, initiative, and accountability.
  • Strong attention to detail with a high level of integrity and organizational capacity to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to use independent judgment and be entrusted with confidential information.
  • Ability to think, remember, and learn new information to apply to job functions.
