Key Responsibilities:

The primary duty of the CNA is to ensure that residents receive the necessary care through various tasks, including:

  • Assisting residents with personal hygiene, grooming, and dressing.
  • Providing meals, snacks, and hydration while adhering to dietary guidelines.
  • Responding promptly to resident call lights and requests for assistance.
  • Maintaining cleanliness and organization in resident rooms.
  • Observing and reporting any changes in residents' conditions or behaviors.
  • Offering emotional support and fostering trust with residents.
  • Ensuring confidentiality and privacy of all resident information.
  • Documenting care provided in accordance with facility policies.
  • Adhering to safety protocols and infection control measures.

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED, unless working under a student permit.
  • Certification as a CNA in good standing from the Indiana State Department of Health (ISDH). CNAs from other states may work temporarily while awaiting certification.
  • Basic computer proficiency, including familiarity with programs like Excel and Word.

Additionally, candidates should possess strong interpersonal skills, including:

  • Ability to assist licensed nurses with procedures within the CNA scope of practice.
  • Capability to follow instructions and work independently.
  • Integrity and tactfulness when interacting with residents and their families.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks effectively and maintain confidentiality.
  • Patience and a positive attitude when working with residents of varying abilities.
  • Commitment to professional ethics and communication regarding residents' conditions.
