Position Overview:

As part of Windstream's Outside Plant Engineering team, you will play a crucial role in connecting consumer and small business partners to our advanced telecommunications products across the nation. Your responsibilities will involve fostering meaningful connections with customers and establishing long-term relationships.

Utilizing data analysis, you will tackle complex challenges for both business and residential clients, employing copper and fiber cables along with electronic systems.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Engineer and design outside plant facilities, including both fiber and copper networks.
  • Assist in the planning, analysis, design, and engineering of outside plant network structures and facilities.
  • Coordinate intricate activities related to the development, construction, implementation, and maintenance of outside plant engineering projects.
  • Apply sound engineering practices and align with company objectives to creatively resolve issues.
  • Communicate effectively to cultivate and maintain positive working relationships, driving projects to successful completion.
  • Design projects to ensure cost-effective use of materials and labor.
  • Perform administrative tasks associated with projects and assignments.
  • Evaluate situations, collaborate with team members, identify key issues, and devise solutions to complex problems.
  • Conduct approximately 70% of work in the field and 30% in the office, with variations depending on market needs.

Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, you should possess:

  • Strong technical communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • The ability to be a self-starter and work independently with minimal guidance.
  • A collaborative spirit, working well within a team environment.
  • Analytical skills to assess problems and prioritize effectively.
  • A passion for problem-solving and developing solutions.
  • A college degree in Engineering or a related field, along with 2+ years of technical experience.
  • Familiarity with CAD/E, Microstation, AutoCAD, or similar design software.
  • Previous experience in telecommunications engineering or relevant coursework.
  • Experience collaborating with city, county, and/or state agencies.

Minimum Requirements:

A college degree in Engineering or a related field, coupled with 2-4 years of professional experience; or 6+ years of related Engineering/Technical experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
