Position Overview
The Director of Corporate Sustainability Initiatives will spearhead stakeholder engagement and advance Western Digital's sustainability strategy. This role involves gathering, analyzing, and leveraging data from various stakeholders to guide leaders and employees on sustainability risks, opportunities, and best practices.

The individual will oversee the company's public engagement on sustainability matters, primarily through the annual sustainability report, which entails managing regular assessments related to materiality, climate, and human rights.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct the sustainability-focused materiality assessments and the annual sustainability report.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive sustainability strategy informed by stakeholder input, industry research, and company priorities.
  • Manage Western Digital's sustainability-related engagements with customers and ensure alignment with stakeholder expectations.
  • Facilitate outreach to investors and shareholders in collaboration with the Legal Department.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert, advising functional leads on sustainability best practices and potential initiatives.
  • Support public reporting efforts on sustainability.
  • Monitor and report on trends and developments in sustainability expectations and regulations.
  • Collaborate with the government affairs team to interpret sustainability-related policies and regulations into actionable plans.
  • Develop communication materials on sustainability topics for both internal and external audiences, leveraging strategic channels.
  • Manage vendor relationships to ensure optimal performance and results.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred.
  • Over 10 years of relevant professional experience with a proven track record in a similar sustainability role, ideally within technology, consulting, or manufacturing sectors.
  • Strong project management skills with a history of leading cross-functional projects to successful completion.
  • Excellent presentation and communication abilities, including the capacity to handle live inquiries with composure.
  • In-depth knowledge of sustainability standards and frameworks, such as GRI, SASB, TCFD, ESRS, and the Greenhouse Gas Protocol.
  • Proven capability to build positive relationships and navigate organizational complexities, influencing stakeholders at all levels.
  • A genuine passion for sustainability and a commitment to making a positive impact through technology and innovation.
  • Experience fostering strong team relationships to create a collaborative and supportive environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, dynamic setting.
  • Resilience and the ability to learn from challenges.
