Position Overview:
The Sanitation Operations Manager will oversee assigned processes and personnel to achieve or surpass company and departmental objectives. This role will also supervise the effective sanitation and cleaning operations within the manufacturing facility, serving as the primary liaison for pest control and chemical suppliers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage all facets of the facility sanitation program, ensuring adherence to the master sanitation schedule while upholding safety, food safety, and quality standards, as well as compliance with internal and external regulations.
  • Collaborate with the Quality Assurance Manager and other facility leaders to ensure the facility is consistently audit-ready.
  • Oversee the relationship with chemical suppliers and manage the sanitation budget effectively.
  • Identify and address deficiencies through Corrective Action Reports and engage in Root Cause Analysis for sustainable solutions.
  • Responsible for the procurement and inventory management of cleaning chemicals, tools, and supplies, ensuring all cleaning equipment is well-maintained.
  • Delegate tasks to team members, optimizing crew setups to meet pre-operational deadlines and facilitate equipment readiness for production.

Communication:
  • Effectively communicate (both verbally and electronically) with Scheduling, Quality Assurance, Dry Storage, and Warehouse teams to ensure timely plant floor releases for Quality Assurance testing.
  • Plan and schedule cleaning activities for team members, ensuring compliance with departmental policies to maintain established safety and quality standards.

Leadership and Direction:
  • Assign and supervise the sanitation cleaning schedule, including both planned and unplanned tasks, while monitoring progress and resolving issues.
  • Ensure compliance with annual budget objectives regarding departmental expenses and employee standard work.
  • Lead a team of 20-25 hourly associates, directing their daily workloads to achieve results and meet or exceed key performance indicators.
  • Oversee sanitation operations during the 3rd shift and serve as the primary contact in the absence of other leadership.
  • Facilitate access to and completion of required training for team members, promoting safety and health awareness.

Continuous Improvement:
  • Drive ongoing enhancements in food safety, sanitation, and quality through leadership in kaizen projects and ensuring the sustainability of improvements.
  • Recommend enhancements to facilities, equipment, cleaning procedures, and pest control strategies to improve safety, quality, and efficiency.
  • Support team members in addressing immediate challenges that arise during operations.

Analysis:
  • Collaborate with supervisors to establish sanitation-specific key performance indicators and ensure records reflect performance against these standards.
  • Maintain workflow by monitoring sanitation processes, identifying control points, and implementing cost-reduction strategies.
  • Compile and analyze sanitation, pest control, and chemical performance data to lead continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications:
  • 3-5 years of experience in food safety and sanitation within a food production environment; a Bachelor's degree is preferred but not mandatory.
  • HACCP and third-party audit certification.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated reliability, decisiveness, and effective judgment.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of food sanitation requirements.
  • Excellent English-language communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to enforce quality and food safety standards collaboratively.
  • Proficient in conflict resolution.
  • Flexibility in scheduling to meet business needs.
