Job Description

Job Summary:

The Los Angeles LGBT Center is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Youth Alumni Program Coordinator to develop and implement a system of after-care and engagement for youth alumni of programs within Youth Services (YS). The successful candidate will work closely with staff and volunteers to support former youth members with opportunities for networking, personal and professional development, allowing YS to track progress and impact of our services and programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and oversight to the system to support former YS youth members in all department programs.
  • Coordinate with YS Youth Academy teams and Center I.T. team to maintain database to connect with all youth as they move from accessing Center programs.
  • Working with the Youth Academy team, provide activities, events and programs to support YS youth preparing to stop accessing Center programs and current alumni.
  • Develop and implement a peer mentorship program between alumni and current youth members.
  • Track and report on progress of YS alumni in areas of housing, employment, health and overall stability.
  • Create and lead the social media campaign and outreach campaign for Alumni Programs, working closely with the Center's Marketing & Communications Department and Development Department.
  • Develop and manage the Alumni website, email, online registration site and any other online resources.
  • Work with various vendors to meet needs for all Alumni events, including location, caterer, entertainment, and printing; I.T. needs.
  • Recruit and train volunteers to support Alumni Program needs.
  • Provide regular reports on the status of alumni to YS leadership.
  • Collect Alumni Program evaluations, reporting the results and distribute to Steering Committee and staff.
  • Evaluate the successes and challenges of all Alumni Program events and activities and make recommendations for the future.
  • Prepare month-end reports and other administrative duties as required to meet program and funder needs.

Requirements:

  • Knowledge of or experience working with the LGBTQ community and familiarity with issues of particular relevance to LGBTQ people.
  • A passion for the Center's work and its mission to make the world a better place for LGBTQ people.
  • Minimum 2 years experience in program development, volunteer management and working with at-risk youth.
  • Experience in psychology, sociology or related field or Bachelor's degree.
  • Working knowledge of the Los Angeles County network of social services.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Competent computer skills and knowledge of software including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and databases.
  • Sensitivity to and appreciation of the particular needs and challenges of gay, lesbian, transgender, bisexual and questioning youth and other marginalized and at risk youth.
  • Ability to work effectively and collegially with people of diverse education levels, abilities, races, ethnicities, spiritual affiliations, gender identities, ages and sexual orientations.
  • Be available to work a flexible schedule that includes weekends and evenings.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with people of diverse races, ethnicities, nationalities, sexual orientations, gender identities, gender expression, socio-economic backgrounds, religions, ages, English-speaking abilities, immigration status, and physical abilities in a multicultural environment.
